Engineering

1stdibs

At 1stdibs, I spent nearly seven years as a Senior Software Engineer, growing into one of the primary owners of the buyer-facing frontend. My most significant project was leading an international team in a year-long rewrite of the company’s search and browse pages — the core funnels through which buyers discovered and purchased luxury goods. Working with a modern stack of Webpack, Express, GraphQL, Relay, and React, the rewrite improved Google PageSpeed scores by 30% and delivered substantial performance gains to the most critical traffic paths on the platform.

Beyond the rewrite, I held deep ownership over the buyer-facing repository, serving as both a daily code reviewer and a domain expert for the product team. With contributions flowing in from 20+ engineers, I maintained a consistent focus on readable, self-documenting code and acted as connective tissue between engineering and product — translating business requirements into technical decisions and ensuring new features were shipped cleanly.

I also invested heavily in platform reliability through custom internal tooling. I built a performance visualization suite using Docker, Puppeteer, Lighthouse, AWS Lambda, and React that gave teams the ability to track load times, catch regressions, and protect performance during active feature development. I also created a stress testing platform using Artillery and a custom multiprocess Node app to simulate traffic spikes, giving the team confidence before major infrastructure changes — work that became foundational to 1stdibs’s ability to scale.
